2016 WAEC Result Released: – The West African Examination Council, WAEC has announced the release of the 2016 May/June results of The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The 2016 WAEC Result has 52.97 per cent pass rate.

WAEC announced that it withheld the results of 137,295 candidates, which represents 8.89 per cent of those who took the 2016 May/June examinations.
Speaking to newsmen, Olu Adenipekun, the Head, Nigeria National Office, said that this was due to examination malpractice. Read his full statement below:
“The cases are being investigated and reports of the investigations will be presented to the appropriate committee of the Council in due course for consideration.”
He stated that 878,040 candidates, representing 52.97 per cent, obtained credits in five (5) subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics, while a total 1, 552, 758 students who sat for the 2016 May/June exams.
“A total of 1,014,573 candidates, representing 65.70 per cent obtained six credits and above, 1,167,484 candidates, representing 75.60 per cent obtained five credits and above. While 1,282,204 candidates, representing 83.03 per cent obtained credit and above in four subjects.”
“1,370,049 candidates, representing 88.72 per cent obtained credit and above in three subjects, 1,438,679 candidates, representing 93.16 per cent obtained credit and above in two subjects.”
WAEC Nigeria announced on Friday evening that the malpractice cases were being investigated. The outcome of the investigations on the 2016 WAEC Result withheld will be made available to the candidates through their schools in due course.

- First go to the official waec rseult for your county. WAEC Nigeria website = www.waecdirect.com.
- Go to the top left hand corner of the page and you will see the result checking portal.
- Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number.
(This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789) - Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2002
- Select the Type of Examination
- Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card
- Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
- Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up
