Zlatan Ibrahimovic has kept his excellent record in the English premier league as the Swedish striker scored a brace to see off Southampton at the first ever Friday night football in the Premier league at Old Trafford.
In what was also their first home game for the season the red devils produced an excellent home win to bring life back to Old Trafford. The match also saw a second debut for now world most expensive footballer, Paul Pogba.
It will be recalled that Southampton had won in their last two visits to the theater of dreams but Zlatan Ibrahimovic made sure it was not going to happen for the third time.
The giant Striker scored two goals in the game. The first goal came in the 36th minute with a header after connecting well to a cross by Wayne Rooney to send Old Trafford into a frenzy.
His second goal came from the penalty spot after Luke Shaw was foolishly tripped in the area by Jordy Clasie. The goal came few minutes after Dusan Tadic had a goal disallowed for Southampton.
Ibrahimovic could have had his hat-trick but Martial failed to pick his fellow him out in the box. The French international then wasted another presentable opening.
It means that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has now scored 3 goals in two premier league matches and four in all competitions.
Joy and life has certainly returned to Old Trafford as can be seen from the atmosphere around the stadium. Pogba who is making his second Manchester United debut was name in the starting line up after missing the first match through a suspension. He had an excellent game himself and came close to scoring a debut goal with some decent efforts.
The result means that Jose Mourinho’s men has maintained a 100 per cent record in England this season. They have played three and won three with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring four out of their four out of their seven goals so far.
It is more interesting that such an awesome player had joined the club on a from PSG this summer on a free transfer. If he avoids injuries and keeps up his current goal scoring tempo, the world maybe about to see the best free transfers of all time.
Should Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manchester United continue in their current, it wont be a very big risk to put your money that the Premier League crown will be returning to Manchester in May.
